Exploring Fish Miscellany from Biodiversity Hotspot Region of Northeast India Through Chromosome Profiling

چکیده
Abstract North Eastern states of India are blessed with extensive ecoclimatic conditions and much India’s endemic flora fauna. This region is rich in fish diversity plenty species ornamental importance, including model zebrafish. Among the potential fishes, Ctenops nobilis designated as Near Threatened Danio dangila included Least Concern list by IUCN. Cytogenetic profiling was undertaken here to provide complementary data for precise identification study genetic inheritance, genome organization evolution species. The cytogenetic analyses revealed diploid chromosome numbers 44 50 karyotype formula 8m+20sm+10st+6t (FN=72) 20m+24sm+6st (FN=94), respectively, C. D. . staining nucleolar organizer regions presence Ag-NORs, CMA 3 sites 18S rDNA probe signals on one pair sub-telocentric sub-metacentric , respectively. A Syntenic Region Conserved from Fish to Mammalian X Chromosome
Sex chromosomes bearing the sex-determining gene initiate development along the male or female pathway, no matter which sex is determined by XY male or ZW female heterogamety. Sex chromosomes originate from ancient autosomes but evolved rapidly after the acquisition of sex-determining factors which are highly divergent between species. In the heterogametic male system (XY system), the X chromos...
متن کاملImpacts of Dams and Global Warming on Fish Biodiversity in the Indo-Burma Hotspot
Both hydropower dams and global warming pose threats to freshwater fish diversity. While the extent of global warming may be reduced by a shift towards energy generation by large dams in order to reduce fossil-fuel use, such dams profoundly modify riverine habitats. Furthermore, the threats posed by dams and global warming will interact: for example, dams constrain range adjustments by fishes t...
متن کاملDietary use and conservation concern of edible wetland plants at indo-burma hotspot: a case study from northeast India
BACKGROUND The wetlands of the North East India fall among the global hotspots of biodiversity. However, they have received very little attention with relation to their intrinsic values to human kind; therefore their conservation is hardly addressed. These wetlands are critical for the sustenance of the tribal communities. METHODS Field research was conducted during 2003 to 2006 in seven majo...
متن کاملExploring the plant transcriptome through phylogenetic profiling.
Publicly available protein sequences represent only a small fraction of the full catalog of genes encoded by the genomes of different plants, such as green algae, mosses, gymnosperms, and angiosperms. By contrast, an enormous amount of expressed sequence tags (ESTs) exists for a wide variety of plant species, representing a substantial part of all transcribed plant genes. Integrating protein an...
